Hackensack Street Fair
Margaret and Cal returned to the city of their birth today for the first annual Hackensack Street Fair, which stretched for several blocks along Main Street. Cal loved the giant inflatable slide and the pony rides, and Margaret enjoyed meeting pigs, bunnies and ducklings in the petting zoo and eating Italian ices. The best part of the afternoon, however, was the music, which featured a band of little kids covering songs by Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix and The Velvet Underground. The highlight of the performance was their version of "Institutionalized" by Suicidal Tendencies. (See below.) You just don't hear enough 80's hardcore punk classics performed by pre-teens on the city streets these days, if you ask me.
