Cal and I took in the
Firefighters Parade in New Milford yesterday, helping the town celebrate 100 years of volunteer fire protection, and watched a seemingly endless stretch of emergency vehicles roll through the small town. Today we set out as a family to catch the local Columbus Day Parade, which was heavily advertised in town. At the appropriate time we drove into town and noticed a distinct lack of anything parade-y going on. We stopped to ask two local cops what was up, but they had no idea where the parade was either. Oddly enough, the two cops were positioned directly beneath a giant sign that was strung across Market Street. The sign screamed "Columbus Day Parade - October 8 - 12 Noon." It was 12 Noon on October 8, but no parade. So, we drove around until we found a parade, and got what we were looking for in Lodi.
