Day at Shea

Cal and I played hooky today and took advantage of one of NYC's greatest bargains: $5 ticket days at Shea Stadium to see the Mets. The Mets got clobbered, but it didn't really matter. We spent some quality time eating, cheering and hunting for Mr. Met, and for a few hours everything was right in the world.

Chillin' in the sunshine before the game with a box of popcorn, waiting for BP foul balls to find us in a pair of borrowed box seats.

This is the view that a five-spot will get ya in Queens. Front row in the upper deck, right behind home plate. Not too shabby.

Cal managed to have a good time, even as the Rockies treated the Mets like a Little League team.

The upper deck seats weren't very lucky, so we relocated to the third base side to get a better view of Cal's favorite player, David Wright.

This pile of steel and concrete might not look like much right now, but it isn't too hard to see the new stadium beginning to take shape just beyond the outfield walls.
