Get Out Your Walking Shoes (and Checkbooks, Please)

Here's one of the many differences between Katie and Rich: Rich signs up for dumb 5K races to get ready for a dumb triathlon that really benefits no one in particular. Katie makes her mark by signing up for a benefit walk-a-thon that directly contributes to a cause that hits close to home.

On Saturday, June 9, Katie (and many members of the Geffert/Leary/Frank families) are hitting the streets of Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers, NY, to support Aunt Marge in her fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a tough opponent, attacking the body's motor neurons and eventually paralyzing the muscles. A patient will likely lose all motor function, even though the mind remains sharp as ever. There is no known cure for ALS.

Scientists don't fully understand the causes of ALS, but continuing research is leading ever closer to substantial ways to combat this vicious disease. And you can help.

Please join Katie and the family in their fight by joining the walk or making a contribution. Every penny helps, and your walking support would mean an awful lot to Marge, Liz, and the whole family.
