Paramus Run

Sunday's Paramus Run was the final scheduled stop on my 2007 fitness crusade, and to celebrate the family turned out and raced together. After a disappointing 5K, where I finished 16 seconds off my personal record, Cal, Margaret, Katie, and I took part in the 1-mile fun run. We weren't sure if the kids would be able to make the mile without help, but we shouldn't have worried. Cal took off from the starting line and raced ahead, stopping only to wait for Margaret and Katie to catch up. Mags started running and didn't stop to rest until well after she had crossed the 1/2 mile marker. It was amazing watching her determination as she pumped those little legs, and her ambition paid off as she eventually passed Cal and crossed the finish line a split-second ahead ahead of her big brother. Each walked away with a medal from the event, and have already asked when they can run another race. Maybe the Paramus Run wasn't the last event on the season calendar after all.
