Marathon Sunday, 2007

The annual trek to NYC for Marathon Sunday had more significance than usual in 2007 as the residents of Schneiderville had the opportunity to cheer on one of our own: Dylan Thomas of Winter Park, FL. Along with Dana, and Dylan's brother, Brian, and his family in tow, we made our way to 75th St. & 1st Ave to catch the first of two scheduled sightings. Dylan, or David as he is known to the running community, breezed past us with plenty of wind in his sails, aided by his pace partner Running Susan. A few pictures and a quick hello were all we could manage before heading to Central Park to catch the triumphant home stretch. Sadly, Cal, Margaret, Katie, Dana, and I missed the dash down Central Park West, as his pace far exceeded our expectations. Stopping for margaritas en route didn't help our cause, but the reason we missed him in the park was his blazing speed. Really. Congratulations, Dylan. We're proud of you for conquering the Big Apple!

We also hoped to see my friend Kevin Walsh on the course, but he had probably finished before we even got to 1st Ave. Walsh worked late into the wee hours at the Dark Horse the night before the race, and did not one bit of formal training, yet still managed to finish 728th overall with a time of 2:58:50.
