NASCAR in NYC

Thanks to the influence of Pixar's Cars, Cal has developed a strong affinity for all things racecar. So, with NASCAR's only scheduled New York appearance on tap, we boarded the bus and headed into NYC to check out Champions Week. With teams spread out through midtown, it was possible to catch up with some of the coolest cars on the circuit. Props go out to the marketing folks at NASCAR, who clearly know how to endear themselves to fans by handing out free stuff at every turn. Some teams gave away autographed pictures, others doled out stuffed animals, candy or posters. But the clear winner, and my new favorite team, was the 99 Office Depot car of Carl Edwards. Edwards and his team handed out mini replica cars and 2GB USB flash drives for the computer loaded with hi-res pictures and stats. There's a chance I could actually follow NASCAR after this. Go figure!
Standing with the Chase Champion, and Margaret's fave driver's car, Jimmie Johnson's #48 in Times Square.
The M&M's car of David Gilliland on Broadway.
Cal's top car, the 24 of Jeff Gordon, outside Radio City.
Winner of the best swag award, Carl Edwards, at Bryant Park.
The kids liked the cars, but they loved the ride on the bus into the city.
