Bradley Beach

We made our first trip to the Jersey Shore on Tuesday, ending up at Bradley Beach after we left the house with no plan other than Exit 98, go east. Raindrops and cloudy skies in Elmwood Park made way for bright rays of sunshine once we got to the beach, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Cal, visiting the shore for the first time since he learned to walk, charged right into the surf without trepidation. Two hours of playing in the sand, chasing birds, and fighting the tides wore the kid out, so we split early and were home by 3 pm. It was a short trip but we learned a lot, including the fact that Asbury Park is an even bigger dump than we remembered or imagined, and that we really wish we had a shore house this year.
